Bed Occupancy Sensor

Bed Occupancy Sensor – a solution for the protection of clients who get   up during the night and fail to return after a specified period of time has   elapsed. The sensor can also detect whether clients have failed to go to   bed at night or have not got up in the morning thus alerting caregivers to   possible hazard, illness or accident conditions. The sensor can be used   with the X-10 controllers to turn on bedside, corridor and bathroom lights   in order to prevent falling in the night. Compatible with Caresse range.

Product Description

The Tunstall bed occupancy sensor provides an early warning by alerting that the user has left their bed and not returned within a pre-set time period, indicating a possible fall. The sensor can also be programmed to switch on lights, helping people find their way to and from bed easily.

Tunstall’s Bed Occupancy Sensor detects if the bed is occupied or unoccupied during pre-set time times. The Bed Occupancy Sensor will detect if the resident has not gone to bed, has gotten up from bed and not returned within a certain time frame, or has not gotten up in the morning. If any of these situations are detected, the Bed Occupancy Sensor will trigger the personal medical alarm which will dial Tunstall’s 24 hour emergency response centre or alert an onsite carer.
The Bed Occupancy Sensor can be interfaced with an X-10 controller. This will trigger lights or lamps to automatically switch on when the client gets up, and switch off when the client goes back to bed.  This may reduce the likelihood of tripping or falling during the night and provide a visual guide back to bed.

Recommended Positioning

The Bed Occupancy Sensor should be positioned between the mattress and base across the bed. The sensor should be placed on the side of the bed where the occupant sleeps.
